What should I tell you first? So many things have happened since... now I attend college, I'm finished with two sets of exams, and next semester I'm going to learn how to frickin' COOK. FINALLY. Totally worth studying two semesters of economial maths and culture history beforehand.
Now we're in the middle of June, and I'm working on a serious big project with a new American friend of mine, Claudie. She's awesome, helps me buy ebay stuff when the seller only ships to the States. And that's a big help, because I managed to put my sticky paws on some serious Dance Central swag lately. Today I won a bandana that I was DYING to get! Now, if I could only get all the different slapbands... here's the list of what I have so far:
- da scarf the one and only above all
- Lu$h Crew slap bracelet
- pink plain bandana
- blue shopping bag
- sunglasses
- and today I won the "which move are you" bandana
What I still miss:
- slap bracelets for Flash4wrd, Hi-Def, Riptide, The Glitterati and D-Cypher
- other colored plain bandanas (I'm sure there's a blue one)
- other colored bags
- and there are also some pretty rare stuff like a t-shirt, a sweatshirt, a water bottle and a baseball cap, but these were given out during a competition in which I couldn't compete for many reasons; on the other hand, Claudie was one of the winners - lucky bastard!
Oh yeah, I wasn't yet playing DC when I last wrote an entry to this blog. I can't wait for DC3 to come out! That's what I hate in game releases, they make me want the Summer to end. Well, I don't this time. I can wait patiently. And anyway, I've got the project to occupy myself with. IN YA FACE, GAME DEVELOPERS!
This week my second cousins are visiting, and then next week job starts. I'll work at my mother's workplace, I'll help at the laboratory. Sort of exciting. You've got your work to do, but there's not much pressure, and I don't have to pay for transportation either because I can travel with my mother. Last year I didn't manage to get a summer job, so now I'm filling my bank account with pocket money... and I have my little plans on what to spend it all on. Of course there are hobby stuff, like ordering things on ebay, buying presents, getting mspoints for DLC, and BOOKS (I'm a nerd and proud of it!) but other than that I'm planning to travel. Speaking of travelling, at the beginning of next semester I'm going to start working on my entry for scholarship. It's a different thing than what I've been talking about so far, but I hope both work out in the end.
Talking about books, I looooove Poirot mystery books! This year I was planning to make a trip to Cologne to GamesCom, but it didn't work out (no problem though, since later I figured out Microsoft isn't attending it - and that was my main attraction to the place) so now I have some pocket money on my hand. Since I always planned to eventually buy all of Agatha Christie's books, I decided I might as well start building my library now. So far I've read these (not all of them this Summer):
- Five Little Pigs (one of my favourites ever since, the plot is a classic, and the idea to investigate a murder that happened 16 years ago is just great)
- Murder On The Orient Express (Poirot at his finest, the conclusion was mind blowing)
- Poirot Investigates (my first encounter with Captain Hastings, I still think of him as the "reader in the stories" - he is a lot of times just as clueless about what's going on as us, the readers!)
- The ABC Murders (where I learned that whatever Christie might suggest the conclusion will be at the end of the story, is a big fat LIE)
- Cat Among The Pigeons (the story that starts veeeeery slow, but keeps me reading all the same - and it becomes double as interesting when Poirot finally shows up)
- The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd (it's not a coincidence this book was labelled as the dame's BEST novel - anyone who says that he/she suspected the conclusion is a filthy liar)
- Curtain - Poirot's Last Case (this was the first I bought this Summer, I wanted to know where the little Belgian detective's story ends - exactly where it begins, in a matter of speaking; the saddest and most intrigueing of all books, and also my no. 1 favourite so far)
- Cards On The Table (I love those novels where Poirot is present from the very beginning; this is a classic detective story where EVERYONE is under heavy suspicion)
- The Clocks (the best settings of all the books - we get a blind teacher, a crazy cat woman, a toffee chewing shorthand typist girl, a heroic secret agent, and of course, a stuck-up Belgian with a funny mustache)
I also read 2 Miss Marple mysteries, but I must admit I don't enjoy them as much as the Poirot ones. Maybe later when I've read all the other books. I'm going to go to Budapest this Wednesday (and also on Friday), so I'm going to buy another book. You know what, maybe I should buy more this time, maybe 3. I won't have much time to travel in July, for I'll be busy with work. I've already seen some good ones in the stores of Mammut and Arena, and I also want to "investigate" the shops of Westend, too, and the smaller stores in the city as well.
Finally, I'd like to thank you Gina for reading all my ramblings about swag and books :D Will you come over on Tuesday?
